This site is small and so is this policy. It explains what thomasbedell.com collects, what happens when you talk to Ava — the AI assistant on this site — and what control you have over any of it.
The short version. There are no advertising trackers, no analytics cookies, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. The only personal information collected is what you deliberately give to Ava or send by email, and it is used for one purpose: so Thomas can get back to you.

2. What is collected
Browsing the site
The pages themselves are static files. No analytics service, advertising pixel, or tracking cookie runs on this site. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of serving those files.
The server that hosts the site keeps ordinary operational logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, and browser user-agent — as part of running and securing the service.
The contact form
The form on the home page opens a message in your own email program with what you typed. Nothing is submitted to this site's server; the message reaches Thomas only once you send it yourself.
Talking to Ava
Ava is the chat assistant in the corner of the site. When you use her, this is what is processed:
- What you type or say to her, along with her replies, for as long as the conversation is open.
- Contact and inquiry details you choose to give her — typically your name and phone number, since Thomas returns calls personally, plus optionally an email address, company, and role, and a summary of what you need written by Ava. Giving her a phone number is entirely your choice; an email address works just as well.
- A random session identifier stored in your browser so a single conversation holds together. It is not tied to your identity and you can clear it at any time (see section 7).
- Your IP address, used to rate-limit abuse of the chat endpoint.
Ava is asked not to request anything beyond your name, email, phone, company, and what you need. Please don't send confidential, sensitive, or regulated information through the chat. If something is sensitive, email or call Thomas directly.
Ava's voice and the microphone
Ava speaks her replies aloud by default. You can turn that off with the speaker button in the chat header; the preference is remembered in your browser.
If you use the microphone button, speech-to-text is performed by your own browser, not by this site. In some browsers — Chrome and Edge in particular — that means the audio is sent to the browser vendor's servers for transcription under their privacy policy. This site receives only the resulting text, and only once you stop speaking. No audio recording is stored here.
3. How the information is used
- To answer your questions during the conversation.
- To pass your inquiry, message, or call request to Thomas so he can follow up.
- To keep a record of inquiries so none are lost.
- To operate, secure, debug, and rate-limit the site.
Your information is not sold, rented, or shared for anyone else's marketing. You will not be added to a mailing list because you talked to Ava.
4. Who else processes it
Running Ava means a handful of service providers necessarily see some of this data. They act on Thomas's instructions and for no other purpose:

Information may also be disclosed if required by law, or where necessary to investigate abuse or protect the security of the site.
5. Where information is processed
Processing takes place in the United States. If you are contacting Thomas from outside the United States, your information will be transferred there.
6. How long it is kept
- Conversation history in your browser — until you close the tab or clear your browser storage. It is not stored on the server between messages.
- Inquiry records and logs — retained for up to 24 months, then deleted on the hosting platform's schedule.
- Email and CRM records of an inquiry — kept for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a normal business record.
7. Your choices and rights
- Don't use the chat. Everything on the site is readable without it, and you can always email or call instead.
- Turn off Ava's voice with the speaker button in the chat header.
- Clear what's stored in your browser — the session identifier and preferences live in your browser's local storage for this site and are removed when you clear site data.
- Ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion of anything held about you by emailing info@thomasbedell.com. Requests are handled within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA — including the right to object to processing and to complain to a supervisory authority. Where consent is the basis for processing, you can withdraw it at any time. Otherwise, the basis for processing is a legitimate interest in responding to inquiries about Thomas's work.
8. Children
This site is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children under 13. Information from children is not knowingly collected. If you believe a child has provided information, please write and it will be deleted.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be summarized at the top of the page.
